Trees growing in unusual places

Introducing the photographic series named “A tree grows in” by Sinziana Velicescu. We love how she captures with her analogical camera different trees in urban landscapes.

His photography explores the impact of human intervention on nature. In “A tree grows in”, Velicescu tells a visual story of how trees interact with industrial and abandoned buildings.

“Many times, they are comic landscape options intended to beautify commercial spaces that would otherwise not be attractive,” Velicescu explained in his artist statement. “However, there is a disturbing quality in the photographs, as if the plants asked for help or wanted to be moved from their locations.” If you look, it seems as if the trees have their own personality. In some cases, a single tree looks out at an acute angle; in others, groups of trees are placed together as if protecting the buildings behind them.
