Interview with Katty Schiebeck

Katty Schiebeck, self-taught interior designer. Uruguayan and based in Barcelona, she is considered one of the young promises of the national and international scene. Katty began her career five years ago as the author of the blog Somewhere I would like to live, with a tasteful selection of interiors and mid-century architecture.

Her distinctive style could be seen as a mix of Scandinavian minimalism and contemporary Spanish design. But let’s her explain to us the secrets of her work: “My ideas and aesthetics have constantly evolved. We have always been pigeonholed in a warm minimalist style, geometry, noble materials, lines, marble, wood… In fact, I like to find balance in a space where functionality and aesthetics are melted so that the pieces can stand on their own. Just as those dishes of the great kitchens where each of the flavors swim in a mixed harmony but where each one can be appreciated in their individuality, or as in those galleries where each piece inside a series works independently without the others, but also with the exhibition as a whole, it is a wonderful journey from beginning to end. Today we are in a too changeable moment to try to stop time with the same formula. The style becomes more abstract since it adapts to each step, at each moment. I always like to reinvent myself and let myself be carried away with new materials, new aesthetics, new challenges.”

With this brief introduction we invite you to read Katty Schiebeck’s complete interview for Les Créations de la Maison.
