Today we pay tribute to Xavier Corberó, a Catalan artist and sculptor.
The past April 24, 2017 left us a great artist. But his memory and talent persists in one of his great sculptures: his own house. Its construction was taken as a long-term job when in 1968 he acquired a land in Esplugues de Llobregat. Little by little it has become a dream house of a unique imagination. He pointed out: “It’s not my house, I’m not interested in having anything. This place was made with the help of my patrons and buyers as a house for my sculptures, so there are no works by other authors”. It is a labyrinthine construction with more than 300 arches, with large empty rooms in its six descending plants and about 5,000 m2 (divided into 9 buildings interconnected by a dozen patios and 25 spaces) arranged around a glazed skylight. The house has 25 bedrooms and bathrooms with bright rooms, with glass doors and wood using new technologies. The different heights are interconnected with elevators.
